SPPC Donates $1,000 to Support Guam’s Surfing Community and Local Competitions

Guam – April 2, 2025 — South Pacific Petroleum Corporation (SPPC) proudly donated $1,000 to Guahan Napu Inc. to support the growth of Guam’s local surf competitions and ongoing efforts in promoting ocean safety, youth involvement, and coastal conservation. This donation underscores SPPC’s continued commitment to uplifting community-based organizations that inspire a healthier, more connected island.

Guahan Napu Inc., a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to advancing the island’s surf culture, advocating for environmental responsibility, and fostering love and respect for the ocean. The organization hosts Guam’s premier annual surf competitions including Rick’s Reef Classic and Surf the Basin, which attract both local talent and broad community participation.

SPPC’s donation will help fund the operational costs of these competitions, including expenses for safety crews, judges, event staff, supplies, trophies, and prizes. Each event draws in dozens of competitors and hundreds of spectators—family, friends, and surf enthusiasts—making them key cultural and athletic moments for Guam’s coastal communities.

With a growing membership of over 60 active surfers, Guahan Napu Inc. continues to serve as a vital platform for aspiring athletes, many of whom go on to represent Guam in regional and international competitions. The organization also works to educate the public on water safety and ocean stewardship, strengthening the island’s collective relationship with its marine environment.
