SPPC Donated $1,000 to Support 17th Annual Malesso’ Gupot CHamoru/Crab Festival
Guam – March 27, 2025 — In continued support of cultural preservation and community development, South Pacific Petroleum Corporation (SPPC) proudly donated $1,000 to the Malesso’ Municipal Planning Council to help fund the 17th Annual Malesso’ Gupot CHamoru/Crab Festival. The three-day festival took place March 28–30, 2025, and welcomed families, visitors, and vendors for a weekend of cultural
celebration and local cuisine.
The check presentation was held at SPPC headquarters, where Mark J. Sablan, SPPC Vice President of Business Development, met with a representative from the Malesso’ Municipal Planning Council. The donation reflected SPPC’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and supporting events that celebrate Guam’s cultural identity.
This year’s festival brought the community together to recognize CHamoru Month and honor Malesso’s deep-rooted connection to the land and sea. Guests enjoyed cultural performances, traditional CHamoru games, music, and island-made crafts. One of the highlights of the weekend was the variety of local dishes served, especially the village’s beloved crab specialties.
SPPC viewed the event as more than just a celebration—it was an opportunity to help ensure the passing down of cultural knowledge to younger generations, strengthen community pride, and support youth athletics and team initiatives within the village. The company expressed appreciation for the work of the Malesso’ Municipal Planning Council and acknowledged the importance of events like the Gupot
CHamoru/Crab Festival in preserving the island’s heritage.
SPPC continues to play an active role in community enrichment by investing in programs that promote cultural awareness, education, and village development.
