South Pacific Petroleum Corporation Donates $5,000 to Support Guam’s Interscholastic Outrigger Paddling League
Tamuning, Guam — South Pacific Petroleum Corporation (SPPC), operator of 76 and Circle K in Guam, has committed $5,000 as a Title Sponsor for the 2025 Kareran Galaide Series, Guam’s largest and most participative interscholastic outrigger paddling league. The donation was presented to the Guam Kayak and Canoe Federation (GKCF) during a check presentation ceremony on March 31, 2025, at SPPC headquarters in Tamuning.
The sponsorship supports a season of student-led competitive paddling events featuring 395 athletes from 10 high schools across Guam, including both IIAAG and ISA league schools. The league provides a platform for high school boys, girls, and mixed teams to compete in sprint and mini-distance races in both Junior Varsity and Varsity divisions, with regattas held from March through May 2025.
SPPC’s sponsorship will directly support two major championship events:
- The Mini Distance All Island Championships, scheduled for April 24
- The Sprint All Island Championships, scheduled for May 3
Funding will help cover key logistical costs such as racecourse setup, first aid services, safety patrols, race officials, portable restrooms, trash disposal, and other infrastructure critical to executing a safe and professional multi-event race series.
This initiative reflects SPPC’s ongoing commitment to community support, education, and cultural preservation through youth sports. The company has long championed local athletic programs, particularly those that emphasize teamwork, tradition, and healthy lifestyles.
The Kareran Galaide Series not only fosters athletic excellence but also strengthens students’ connection to Guam’s maritime heritage, as outrigger paddling remains one of the island’s most culturally significant sports.
The Guam Kayak and Canoe Federation extended its sincere appreciation for SPPC’s support, recognizing the sponsorship as instrumental in ensuring the 2025 season remains accessible, safe, and impactful for student-athletes.
