South Pacific Petroleum Corporation Sponsors 43rd Annual Guam-Japan Festival with $3,000 Contribution
Tamuning, Guam — South Pacific Petroleum Corporation (SPPC), contributed $3,000 in sponsorship to support the 43rd annual Guam-Japan Festival hosted by the Japan Club of Guam. The donation helped underwrite the event’s cultural programming and community outreach, underscoring SPPC’s longstanding commitment to fostering cross-cultural engagement on the island.
The check presentation was held at SPPC’s corporate headquarters in Tamuning on April 8, 2025. SPPC Vice President of Business Development Mark J. Sablan presented the sponsorship check to Japan Club of Guam representatives. The donation placed SPPC at the Silver Sponsorship level for this year’s event.
The Guam-Japan Festival took place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park (Ypao Beach Park). With this year’s theme, “TSUNAGU ~ FULL BLOOM ~,” the event focused on strengthening bonds and fostering unity within the Guam community through the celebration of Japanese culture. The word Tsunagu, meaning “to connect,” was reflected throughout the festival’s activities, which included cultural performances, traditional Japanese cuisine, live music, games, crafts, and vendor booths.
Now in its 43rd year, the Guam-Japan Festival continues to be one of the most anticipated cultural events on the island, attracting thousands of attendees from across the community. The festival not only serves as a bridge between Guam and Japan, but also as a platform for preserving traditions and encouraging mutual understanding among residents and visitors.
SPPC’s support of the festival aligns with its broader mission to give back to the community through sponsorships, donations, and active involvement in local events. By supporting initiatives that highlight cultural heritage and community spirit, SPPC continues to play a vital role in enhancing quality of life on Guam.
