South Pacific Petroleum Corporation Donates to Famaguen Galaide

Guam, July 26, 2024 – South Pacific Petroleum Corporation (SPPC), the company behind the 76/Circle K brands in Guam, has generously donated $1,500 to Famaguen Galaide, a paddling program under the Guam Kayak and Canoe Federation (GKCF).

Famaguen Galaide is a paddling program under the Guam Kayak and Canoe Federation (GKCF), targeting young paddlers ranging from ages 5 to 18 years old. For years, GKCF has sponsored high school outrigger canoe paddling races during the high school seasons. However, to prepare young paddlers for national and international competition, Famaguen Galaide decided to introduce the sport of outrigger paddling at an earlier age. The organization is passionate about its cause and mission, and with sponsorships like that from SPPC, they aim to achieve even greater success in their endeavors.

To kick off their program, Famaguen Galaide will host a friendship race on September 22, 2024. This event will feature young paddlers aged 6 to 18 competing in O6 sprints and V1 sprints. The races will be divided into three different divisions: sottera (girls), sottero (boys), and sotteru (mix), with three different age categories: nenis (6-10), manhoben (11-13), and sotteru (14-18). The event aims to promote friendly competition, camaraderie among fellow paddlers, and the art of outrigger paddling.

The $1,500 donation from SPPC will help cover race event expenses, such as participation shirts and awards for young paddling athletes.

SPPC is honored to support Famaguen Galaide in their mission to preserve and promote our cultural heritage. This donation is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and supporting educational initiatives.
